Valentinian II 375-392 A.D. AE4 VF -- #AC84224
AE4 12mm. 1.32g. Thessalonica Mint (?) 388-393 A.D. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust, r. Scarce. Dark green contrasting patina. Good detail. Off-center on tight flan. Slight roughness. Possible Vandallic imitation. Though the mint mark is off the flan, an attribution to Thessalonica can be made based upon stylistic details. However, the crude, small legends could also indicate a Vandallic origin, in which case this would likely be an imitation of Valentinian III.
