AR Denarius 18mm. 3.55g. Rome Mint 201-202 A.D. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust, r. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG Galley l., three figures (Septimius Severus, Caracalla and Geta) seated under arch at stern. ADVENT AVGG RIC IV 120; RSC III 3 VF. Toned with much underlying lustre. Reverse die a bit worn. This type celebrates Caracalla's fifth anniversary as joint emperor with Severus, as well as the imperial family's return to Rome from the East that year, which was by ship.
