Kidarites Later issues Anonymous ca. 6th-7th Centuries A.D. Debased Dinar Near VF -- #AC107504
AV Debased Dinar 23mm. 7.71g. Stylized Kushan-style King standing l., Brahmi 'KIDARA' to r. under arm.
Stylized Enthroned Ardoksho, Brahmi legend to r.(?)
cf. Mitch. 3638ff. Near VF. Light coppery golden color with attractive contrast. Tiny scrape on lower right obverse edge. Debased 'Kidara' type dinar, derived from the Kushan 'standing king' types. While this coin is probably anonymous, there is the remnants of a legend on the reverse, which may be the name of a ruler; this example does resemble the coins of Pratapaditya II (ca. 5th Century). The legend appears to have been recut or so crudely engraved that it is largely illegible, and is likely a later issue.
