The Lan Na or Lanna Kingdom also known as Lannathai (Lao-Thai), was an Indianized Buddhist state centered in present-day Northern Thailand from the 13th to 18th centuries.

Cast from high silver content silver-copper-lead alloy, the 'coriander flower' pattern on the surface resulted from cooling the molten silver. This type of money contained a high percentage of fine silver and thus was considered a high denomination.
