The Demi Gros seems to be substantially scarcer than the full gros. |

AR Heavy Gros Petit (Demi Gros) 21mm. 2.41g. Nicosia mint 1st type, Struck 1290 or 1291-1306 Crowned Henri II enthroned facing on gothic chaise, holding globus cruciger and sceptre. Lion rampant left, with three pellets above, representing crown. Metcalf CLC pg. 130, pl. 3, 1-2 (similar dies); Metcalf CCLE 671; CCS pg. 278, 39; Slocum 601 (different dies). VF. Very rare and seldom offered. The dies appear to be very close to those in Metcalf's corpus, but not exactly the same. The obverse is possibly the same as Slocum 601, but in a different die state. |
