*HAN-NB*HA-TES*ZV*NVRENB [HANS SCHVLTES ZV NVRENB] Neumann 32162 VF. Double struck and rotated resulting in overlapping legends. Obv. Legend translates as 'Happiness comes from God, is true.' The jeton masters of the 16th century began by placing personal symbols or abbreviated forms of their names (i.e. IO SU for Iorg Schultes) on their jetons, but the Town Council of Nuremburg later made the full name of the masters obligatory. There is sometimes confusion where there were members of a family with the same name, and a different spelling of the Christian name might be used to distinguish them. (i.e. Hans and Hanns or Wolf and Wolff). The Schultes (or Schultheiss) family were the first to sign their counters.
The globus cruciger is prominent in this and other types, as a sort of 'trademark of the city of Nuremburg'; it was the symbol of the imperial power of the Holy Roman Emperor, so it is likely that it alluded to the status of Nürnberg as a free city that replied only to the Emperor.

The Prussian Union of Churches (known under multiple other names) was a major Protestant church body which emerged in 1817 from a series of decrees by Frederick William III of Prussia that united both Lutheran and Reformed denominations in Prussia. The minting of these medals began on August 18, 1926. In the following years various foundries were commissioned to meet the demand of 5000 copies a year. These medals were produced in bronze until 1936. Zinc was used from 1937 onwards. The last 'golden wedding anniversay' ceremonies were held in 1943.
