CIVITAS Galleries, Ltd. is owned and operated by Benjamin R. Bell and Joshua Moran. We are located in the Madison, WI area.
We deal primarily in Ancient, Medieval, World and United States coins, but also carry a selection of books, currency, primitive monies, antiquities and classic stamps. Benjamin R. Bell has studied coins since 1981, during which time he interned at the A.N.A. museum and catalogued for 3 years at Classical Numismatic Group in Lancaster, PA. He holds an M.A. from the University of London, where he produced a dissertation on Eastern imitations of the Venetian ducat in the British Museum. Bell is a member of the A.N.A. and A.N.S. His collecting interests include medieval imitative gold and classic stamps of the Indian Princely States.
Joshua Moran has been collecting coins since 1987. After receiving a B.A. in Anthropology from Beloit College, he participated in five field seasons of excavation on an Etruscan archaeological site in Italy and has been involved with contract archaeology in the U.S. Moran is a member of both the A.N.A. and A.N.S. His specialties include Roman Republican, Roman Imperial and United States variety coinage.
